The exact contents of a disposable vape will differ depending on which single-use vape you’re thinking of - however, there are some key features that all disposable vapes have in common. All disposable vapes contain a lithium ion battery - some of them are rechargeable, whilst others are intended to be disposed of as soon as the battery is depleted. As well as a battery all disposable vapes will contain some form of wick, heating element and vape juice. The wick can be made of cotton, or a type of sponge and is saturated in the vape juice. When disposing of your vape you should abide by WEEE regulations to ensure that the lithium-ion battery contained within the vape is recycled safely and appropriately. The puff count refers to how many puffs you either can get out of your vape, or how many you have already taken of your vape. For instance a disposable vape with a puff count of 600 puffs can last for up to a maximum of 600 puffs per device. However a traditional vape with a screen that displays the puff count is counting how many puffs have been taken on the device - simply put, the puff count is a count of how many puffs can or have been had.

Choosing the best nicotine strength depends entirely on your individual need and preference. If you were previously a heavy smoker we’d usually recommend a 20mg (2%) strength disposable vape. However, if you were only smoking around 10 a day or aren’t used to strong nicotine we’d suggest that you go for a lower strength such as the 10mg (1%) disposables. Alternatively, if you’re coming away from using nicotine or were only an occasional smoker, a nicotine free disposable vape may suit you better. One thing to remember is that you don’t want to increase your nicotine intake as this can deepen addiction, leading it to become worse than before - it’s always best to reduce your nicotine consumption, where possible.

Most disposable vapes actually work the same way as a regular vape kit. They have avape coil surrounded by a wick that’s saturated with vape juice. The battery powers the coil, allowing it to heat up, which in turn vaporises the e-liquid in the wick to produce a vapour that can be inhaled. This is why the disposable vape will only work if it has e-liquid or battery power left, as without the battery the coil can’t heat the liquid, and without the liquid the coil would just be heating the wick, which leads to a burning taste.

The legal age for purchasing any type of tobacco product, including e-liquid and disposable vapes is 18 years of age. Selling tobacco products to anybody under the age of 18 years old is illegal within the UK and can have serious consequences - the same goes for those who purchase vape products for those who are under the legal age limit.
